The CBF previously announced that the Seleção would face the Pharaohs on September 6, before Egypt pulled out due to scheduling commitments. The African champions have now said, however, that they have cancelled the game due to security concerns.

Now, it has been announced on the official CBF website that a new opponent will be found to play a friendly around the same date, with the identity of the team to be announced in the next few days.

As a result, Mano Menezes will still name his latest squad in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, at 11:00 local time (15:00 UK time), as had been planned for the Egypt clash.
