For the second part of our series we will look at the Defenders:

 

Full Backs:

Alex Sandro: FC Porto new recruit is also Brazil youth team’s left full back. He was in the team that won the South American youth Championship earlier this year and should be titular for the World Cup.

 

Danilo: Brazil right full back is sure to be in the titular. He won the Copa Libertadores with Santos and even scored in the final. He also signed at FC Porto but will only join the Portuguese league in January after the Clubs World Cup.

 

Gabriel Silva: formed at Palmeiras, the 20-year-old has since started some of the first team’s matches. In the South American Youth Championship he was Alex Sandro substitute the hierarchy will be the same in the World Cup.

 

Galhardo: the right full back started his professional career at Flamengo in 2009 since then he is a regular in the Rio de Janeiro team. His speciality: free-kicks.

 

Central defenders:

Bruno Uvini : the team’s captain started his career in 2010 at Sao Paulo. He won the Sao Paulo cup with the youth team and is now a regular of the first team. Uvini was already the captain earlier this year when Brazil won the South American Youth Championship, and there is no doubt he’ll lead Brazil in the World Cup.

 

Rodrigo Frauches: The 19-year-old plays for Flamengo’s youth team. He wasn’t part of the Selecao that won the continental championship but he is gaining fame within Flamengo and might get a chance to play.

 

Juan Guilherme Nunes Jesus: Formed at Internacional the young central defender was part of the team that won the Copa Libertadores last year. A few months later he won the South American Youth Championship with Brazil. He will be titular in defence with Uvini.

 

Romário Leira: Formed at international the young central defender signed his first professional contract last year with the Colorados. He was part of the team that won the South American Youth Championship and will act in the world cup as a backup.
