Yesterday before leaving Argentina, Mano Menezes gave his last press conference on the Argentinean soil.

“I’ll be criticized, as the coach is always criticized when the team doesn’t win,” he said. “I feel confident in what I do, because I’m doing the right thing. I have a strong self-assessment and I can affirm that Brazil will be ready for 2014.”

On the lack of goals he said: “throughout our history we had great strikers and to replace them is difficult. We have extraordinary references, there is a void but we have to look for new players with tranquillity.”

Asked about the future he said: “the Copa America was a reference point, an important stage in our preparation, we don’t have a lot of official competition before the World Cup. They will be internal decisions.”

Some players complained that they missed their penalties because of the quality of the pitch, Mano Menezes has another opinion: “there are no justifications. We should have won the game to avoid the penalties.”

Mano Menezes is now on his way to Colombia where he’ll follow the U20 World Cup. Brazil next official game is against Germany on the 10th of August.
