Without a goal scored in the first leg, the winner will be decided next week in the the Pacaembu stadium.
Nothing much happened in the first 20 minutes of the game. And the spectacle was off the pitch as Penarol’s fans provided a vibrant atmosphere.
But the game slowly started to get lively with both team taking their chances. Bruno Rodrigo hit the post at the 20th and both goalkeepers made decisive saves. Penarol, who was playing at home, took control of the game in the first half but without success in front of the goals.
In the second half, Santos was playing better. But Penarol managed to score five minutes before the end of the game. Luckily for the Brazilians the goal wasn’t valid due to an off side position.
So the title will be decided next week: who wins the second leg, wins the Cup. A draw would take both team to the prolongations.
