Cuba look likely to be eliminated from the CONCACAF Gold Cup after losing both their first two games 5-0, and Socrates, who played 60 times for the Seleção has spoken of the possibility of taking over as manager.

“Someone related to diplomacy [in Cuba], through a friend, expressed his interest in working with me," he told reporters in Brazil. “But I have not talked to anyone yet."

It has been reported by El Comercio that Socrates is due to meet with Cuban officials in the next few days.

“Let"s talk, I"ll see what they think," he added. “If I can help I will. It"s all open. Football was never the favourite sport of the Cubans, but it could be."
