The 19-year-old striker has been constantly linked with a move to the Bernabeu, and has at times seemed to be on the verge of making the switch, according to various media outlets. Ribeiro also previously revealed that five clubs had been given permission to talk to Neymar.

However, Ribeiro now explained the club"s intent to hang on to one of their prized assets, and told Lancenet: “We have no interest in selling Neymar and we will communicate this formally."

Real are believed to have recently made a second bid for Neymar, but Ribeiro added: “It is the same proposal. We had until the end of the month as a deadline to respond, and I had already indicated that the answer would be ‘no." I will make that formal on Monday.

“It is complicated. I do not know if Real Madrid will pay Neymar"s release clause [€45 million] but there is a long battle which protects us. Santos are not a tiny little club. We will play in the Club World Cup."
