Ederson is “much better", confirmed Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, before the momentous match against Arsenal that could define a good part of the Premier League. The goalkeeper suffered a muscle injury in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday, March 10.

The Brazilian has just missed his team"s matches against England and Spain. Alisson, from Liverpool, was also unable to be present due to injury, so Bento (Athletico Paranaense) was under the three sticks with great performances in the two friendlies that put him on the radar of big teams in Europe.

Ederson was training more normally this week, although in principle his recovery was planned for early April, just when the Citizens visit the Santiago Bernabéu for the first leg against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Stefan Ortega therefore has a great chance of being the starting goalkeeper for Sunday"s match at the Etihad Stadium. City is third, one point behind Liverpool and Arsenal, so the result may end up being key to the definition of the competition.

Walker and Stones ruled out against Arsenal

Guardiola ruled out the presence of Kyle Walker, injured in England"s defeat against Brazil at Wembley, and John Stones, also injured with his team in the draw against Belgium. Manuel Akanji is already recovered to return to the field of play, while Kevin de Bruyne and Jack Grealish could have minutes after recovering from their ailments.
