Palmeiras chief: Alan Kardec showed us no respect
The Executive Director of Palmeiras, Jose Carlos Brunoro, has labelled striker Alan Kardec disrespectful after it emerged that the player has had no contact at all with the club since announcing that he was joining Sao Paulo on a permanent deal.
Palmeiras believed that they were in the box seat to grab Kardec's signature following a loan spell from Portuguese side Benfica, but the forward decided to join up with Tricolor instead, and allegedly failed to thank or say goodbye to Verdao for the time he spent there.
Brunoro said: "Kardec did not give us an answer on our last proposal. We always respected him and he did not respect us."
On the deal perhaps being down to money, Brunoro added: "We have a vision at Palmeiras and we will not meet our goals with everyone. So there is a respect for the budget because we want to be perenially strong."
Kardec signed a five-year deal with Sao Paulo after they paid Benfica almost €5 million for his services. He was in Brazil's back-up party for the recent World Cup but has yet to make his international debut.
