Leandro Damião scored his second goal for Santos last night in their 5-0 demolition over Bragantino.

Damião scored the fifth and after the game he spoke with Lancenet.com about his role in the team.

After signing for a big transfer fee the 24-year-old might have been expected to score some more goals but he believes he is playing a key tactical role for the team.

Judging by the success Santos have earned this season it is hard to disagree, Damião said: “I’m glad the team is winning.

“I’ve participated in several moves, drawing my marker out of position, moving around the pitch so I am calm.”

Damião played a hand in the opening goal scored by the underrated Cícero before talented youngster Gabriel scored the second.

Another youngster Geuvânio bagged himself a brace but despite another comprehensive win Damião isn’t sure yet if they are the best team in the Campeonato Paulista.

He added: “I can not tell which team is the best in this division. We are working, dedicating ourselves to get to the top.

“When you’re winning you can not feel sorry, as Penapolense had no mercy on us and did very well. Oswaldo de Oliveira reminded us of this.”
