Alan Kardec failed to let a snub from Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari deter his goalscoring form as he found the back of the net for Palmeiras again on Thursday night.

The Benfica loanee scored the opening goal in his sides 2-0 victory over São Bernardo and admitted after the game that he still dreams of being selected for his country.

Lancenet.com spoke with the 25-year-old, he said: “Selection is a dream, and a dream to accomplish.

“We need to continue working and need to increasingly improve on the field.”

The result continues the fine start to 2014 for Palmeiras after a successful end of last year by achieving promotion back to Brazil’s top flight.

Kardec is focusing on the matches ahead and maintaining Alviverde are switched on for the important fixtures coming up where they can secure their progression to the knock-out stage.

The forward added: “I’m happy for two reasons: first is to have won in front of our fans and when I participate directly with a goal I’m happy.

“The staff should be congratulated but we must continue to fight because we will not have easy games ahead.”

If Kardec continues his excellent form Palmeiras will have no problem qualifying and may even win the whole competition.
