Brazilian Hernanes was officially presented as a Inter Milan player today following his transfer from Lazio last week.

The 28-year-old discussed various topics at his press conference. He revealed his admiration for his new club as well as talking about his World Cup hopes.

Globo Esporte reported the former Lazio midfielders quotes and he hopes he can still make Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad.

Hernanes said: “I have not spoken with Scolari, but I believe that the transfer will give me more standing.

“Now I am an Inter player, I have made an important transfer and I believe this is very important for my World Cup (chances).”

Hernanes has been a star performer in Serie A since moving from Brazil in August 2010.

He went on to praise his new “great team” and talked about his Internazionale idols; listing Brazil’s Ronaldo as one.

“When I heard that Inter wanted me, I just wanted to accept, because it is a unique opportunity,” admitted Hernanes.

“I am convinced that it will (be successful) as well. Inter have a great team. I see great quality in the group.

“It is the only team in Italy who never fell to Serie B. Being a club that was also never involved in scandals further reinforces my admiration.

“Ronaldo is my idol, I always enjoyed (Álvaro) Recoba, I like a lot of lefties, they have a different class.”
