Atletico Mineiro attempted to add an Argentine to complement Jesus Datolo but were priced out of a move for Newell’s Old Boys’ Milton Casco, according to reports on lancenet.

The 25 year-old was wanted by Mineiro to bolster their ranks ahead of another busy season, which will see the attempt to defend the Copa Libertadores they won in dramatic fashion last term.

However, Mineiro chief Alexandre Kalil baulked at the asking price for Casco and the deal seems to be dead.

“I’ve been in Argetina with Casco and the representative of Casco, but I cannot pay €13 million”, Kalil stated.

Speculation is afoot thatMineiro might now move for Tijuana’s Edgar Castillo, who impressed the Brazilian club in last year’s Copa.
