Fluminense have been offered Napoli defender Paolo Cannavaro on loan, according to reports.
GloboEsporte.com claims the 32 year-old, who is out of favour at the Partenopei, icould be signed on a 12 month agreement, free of charge.
Cannavaro earns around R$400,000 a month, a wage that Fluminense could afford.
Whether the deal goes ahead will likely hinge on interest from elsewhere in Italy – Lazio and Genoa have been linked – and also on what division Fluminense will play in next season.
Having seemingly been allowed to stay in the Brasileirão next season, despite finishing in the bottom four, a judge ordered last week that Flu would have to play in the Brasileirão Série B. Should that remain the case, it would likely deter Cannavaro from joining.
