Flamengo have been delighted with the start to the season of young star Rafinha, but coach Dorival Júnior is keen for the player to keep his feet firmly on the ground.

Rafinha, 19, was the star of the show as Flamengo beat rivals Vasco da Gama on Thursday in the Carioca Championship, scoring one goal and making another in the 4-2 win, but the coach is keen to protect the young forward.

“Rafinha is still a kid, but I can see he has his feet on the ground, has a very good behaviour and this favours his growth,” Dorival Júnior told Lancenet!

“I hope he keeps this attitude coming. This is crucial for his career.”

Despite wanting to keep the spotlight on Rafinha to a minimum, Júnior was also keen to praise the talented forward.

“Rafinha has mobility, is aggressive and is not afraid to go up to the opponent. Not to mention that he also engaged in marking. It’s a very useful player for our squad.”
