Castán, who joined Italian giants Roma this summer, is once more set to fill-in at left-back in the absence of injured duo Marcelo and Adriano, with Menezes once more choosing not to call-up a natural left-back replacement and overlook Corinthians’ Fábio Santos who will start on the bench.

Thiago Neves is more of a surprise selection, chosen ahead of São Paulo’s Lucas Moura and Dnipro’s Giuliano to fill the right wing role vacated by the absent Hulk. Once more it was decided that no replacement player would be called – ignoring calls for the inclusion of Shakhtar duo Willian and Alex Teixeira.

Elsewhere, Brazil are expected to match the side that took to the pitch for last month’s friendly encounters with Iraq and Japan.

Expected line-up: Diego Alves; Daniel Alves, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Leandro Castán; Ramires, Paulinho; Thiago Neves, Oscar, Kaká, Neymar
