Chelsea Under-21 coach Dermot Drummy has hinted that Brazilian youngster Lucas Piazon may be given his first-team debut in the Capital One Cup.

Lucas, 18, has been training with the first-team since the end of last campaign and impressed in pre-season duty, including a senior goal in New York against French side Paris Saint-Germain.

Regarding Under-21 league games, which are often played at Stamford Bridge, Drummy said: “It just gives them experience which they normally wouldn’t get. The best hope these players have at the moment is performing in the Capital One Cup.

“Lucas Piazon is playing very well and training with the first team on a regular basis, but any time we can play at Stamford Bridge is massive, and it also gives the fans the chance to come along to the ground and see some of our younger players in action.”

Chelsea play Wolverhampton on September 25th in the next round of the Capital One Cup.
