As Flamengo cruised to their crushing victory, Douglas grabbed a stunning hat-trick to inspire his team to success.

After a week in which his name has been splashed across the media Europe-wide, Douglas was keen to focus on Saturday’s game.

“I thought that the whole team played well,” Douglas told Sambafoot on Saturday evening.

“At know time did we drop-off our productivity. At the start it was a bit difficult, but after we made it easy for ourselves. It is a brilliant start, to start the Carioca with three good goals and I must thank God.”

When asked about his favourite of the three goals, Douglas was quick to point out his second effort, saying: “For the second goal, I got the ball, dribbled past my opponent and finished left footed.”

Sambafoot revealed early this week that there has been no official contact as of yet for the Flamengo starlet who was rewarded as top-scorer in the 2012 Copa Rio – below.
