According to numerous reports across Europe this week, 17-year-old Flamengo midfielder Douglas Baggio is at the centre of a transfer battle between Napoli, Real Madrid and Chelsea amongst others.
However, Sambafoot can reveal that there has been no contact with the player from any side and the player is only aware of interest via media reports.
“What we know here in Brazil is that there are several European clubs who are interested in Douglas," said Press Officer Evandro Costa. "But, until now nobody has contacted us.
“He [Douglas] is very happy to see that his name is now being spoken about in Europe.
“For our part, all we know is from the European press."
Douglas was the top-scorer in the recent Copa Rio Under-17 tournament, raising his profile both inside Brazil and now across the Atlantic.
