After falling out with the management at the German side, Diego looks certain to depart. He has been linked with a number of clubs, including a return to Brazil with Botafogo.
But speaking to Bild, the 26-year-old said: “Perhaps I will remain with the Bundesliga. I have not ruled that out. However, until now no club from Germany has spoken to me.”
Diego is also open to a move back to his homeland, and told Lancenet: “We will have to assess things from both a financial and professional point of view. I will certainly listen to the Brazilian clubs with affection.”
The attacking-midfielder began his career in Europe when he left Santos in 2004 to join Porto. He then spent three years with Werder Bremen, and returned to Germany last year after one season in Italy with Juventus.
