Fred made his Fluminense debut yesterday afternoon and immediately opened his goal scoring account for his new club, scoring twice in a 3-1 win over Macaé.

After a well taken header from Wallacer gave Macaé an unexpected lead in the Maracanã, but Fred marked his debut with a goal for Flu, out jumping his marker to head in an equaliser. Thiago Neves then put Flu in front after Everton Santos saw his effort come off the bar. On 87 minutes Fred pounced to score Flu’s third and his second of the game. Carlos Alberto Parreira has now won two games of two since taking over at Fluminense.

Vasco da Gama continued their 100% record in the Taça Rio after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over a Boavista side who had also won their first two games. Having impressed with a 4-1 win over Botafogo midweek, Fernando’s glancing header in the first half was enough to secure the points.

Botafogo found their goalscoring touch as they romped to a 4-0 win away at Capofriense. A brace from Victor Simões and a goal apiece for Maicosuel and Renato was enough as Botafogo strolled to victory.

On Saturday, Flamengo could only manage a 1-1 draw with Tigres. Tigres who had lost both their previous two matches in the Taça Rio. Flamengo got off to a bad start when Leo Moura ballooned a fifth minute penalty. Things went from bad to worse when Tigres took the lead following an error from Fla ‘keeper Bruno. Josiel powered in a header to level for Flamengo as the Rubo-Negro could only manage a draw.
