With Ronaldo being rested by Corinthians this weekend, seventeen year Neymar scored his first senior goal as the hype surrounding the Santos striker grows.

With Santos two goals up against Mogi Mirim, Neymar who had been named in the starting line up for Santos, met Triguinho’s cross with a low diving header. Pablo Enrique and Roni had scored Santos’ earlier goals with the win putting Santos back into the top four of the championship.

Corinthians meanwhile, minus Ronaldo, slumped to a 0-0 draw against Santo André. Palmeiras who played on Saturday, took full advantage of Corinthian’s slip up and extended their lead at the top of the Paulistão with a 3-0 win at the Palestra Itália against Barueri. After a goalless first half, Diego Souza unselfishly played the ball to Keirrison who finished to hand Palmeiras the lead. Palmeiras second was to follow soon after as Lenny tormented the Barueri defence leaving Diego Souza to make it 2-0. Pierre then capped off a well worked Palmeiras move for their third of the afternoon with a placed shot from outside the box.

São Paulo meanwhile continue in third place winning 2-1 against Marília.. Hernanes stunned the vistors with a long range effort on 24 minutes. Washington’s well taken finish doubled São Paulo’s lead early in the second half whilst João Vitor’s shot from outside the box reduced Marília’s deficit.
