The Brazilian National Team held its first training session in Atlanta on Monday (1) for the SheBelieves Tournament, which will kick off on Saturday (6). With new additions to the squad, this will be another opportunity for coach Arthur Elias to test and assess the players who could integrate the team at the Paris Olympics.

During the tournament, the Brazilian Warriors will face Canada on Saturday (6) and then could take on the United States or Japan on the 9th. With an eye on the Olympics, which take place in July, the coach emphasized the importance of facing strong teams for the National Team’s preparation.

“It’s important to participate in this competition, which has an elimination character. We always prepare ourselves aiming for this phase of elimination in any tournament, so I am sure we will be able to take advantage of these games for many things we will encounter at the Olympics, not only because they are opponents who will be in the tournament, but also because of the quality of the game we will face,” commented the coach.

Thinking about the tests he intends to carry out with the National Team, Arthur called up a new squad for this FIFA Date. 15 of the 23 players called up play in Brazil and are competing in the Neoenergia Women’s Brazilian Championship.

“Our idea is to give the players who are here the opportunity to play as starters, to play an interesting volume so that we can make the fairest and most accurate assessment possible within this preparation process for the Olympics, which is our main objective,” he added.

“The players who are here from Brazilian clubs deserved to be here, just like those from abroad as well. We always look at the performance of each one, regardless of the club, and each one deserves to be in the national team, and from the moment they are here, they have all the support, guidance, and demands that this jersey requires,” he concluded.
