Corinthians claimed a big victory against São Paulo at the Neo Química Arena after holding on to a 1-0 score-line that saw them take all three points at the end of the day. The result has a big impact on the top spots of the Brasileirão with São Paulo now only just four points ahead of second-place Atletico-MG. It also saw São Paulo lose end their unbeaten run of 17 games in the competition in disappointing fashion.

São Paulo dominated play and mostly saw most of the ball but Corinthians were better where it mattered the most;

creating chances in front of goal. Timão played on the counterattack early on and Leo Natel came close to scoring within the first ten minutes of the game.

The deciding moment of the match will come in the 26th minute when a pass from Reinaldo put Corinthians on the break and the move was finished off by Otero who left Volpi with no chance.

São Paulo made changes at half time and brought in Igor Vinicius and Tche Tche but a resolute Corinthians side held on to their lead to continue their good record against São Paulo.

Out of 13 games in 1taquera, Corinthians have now won 10 against São Paulo, with the remaining here ending in stalemates. They are yet to lose.

São Paulo have an even tougher game on the cards when they welcome second-place Atlético-MG on Wednesday in a bid to return to winning ways. Corinthians return to the pitch next Monday to take on Goiás.
