On this Monday, the 4th, Brazilian defender Felipe, formerly of Corinthians and Atlético Madrid, currently playing for Nottingham Forest in England, announced that he will retire from football at the end of the 2023/2024 season.

At 34 years old, he was sought after by several clubs and decided to reveal that his career will come to an end along with the conclusion of his contract with the English club in June 2024.

The 2023/2024 season was marked by numerous injuries for the defender Felipe. He played only seven matches for Nottingham Forest and even featured for the U-21 team in September 2023.

“I have experienced great moments, a career that I can only be thankful for, playing for big clubs, in four different countries, the Brazilian National Team, and many stories to tell for the rest of my life,” the player posted.

“It is still early to explain the reasons, something I will do later, as I still have a contract and want to honor it as I have always done for all the clubs I have represented. But out of respect for the clubs that have approached me for the future and even to my current club, I wanted to address this matter here and speak with an open heart and honesty,” added the athlete.

Felipe began to shine in Brazilian football wearing Bragantino’s jersey in 2011. The following season, he moved to Corinthians, where he played between 2012 and 2016.

At Corinthians, Felipe had an outstanding performance and was a key player in winning the 2015 Brazilian Championship under coach Tite’s leadership.

He joined Porto in Portugal for the 2016/2017 season and remained with the Dragons for three years, always as a starter.

In 2019/2020, the Brazilian went on to play for Atlético Madrid, where he spent three seasons, once again as a regular starter, with his main achievement being the Spanish La Liga title.

Felipe arrived at Nottingham Forest last season but struggled to secure a consistent place in the English team due to recurring injuries.

It is worth mentioning that the defender also represented the Brazilian national team in two matches and was called up for the 2021 Copa America.
