Patrick de Paula continues to see his stock rise and it’s only a matter of time before a marquee move to one of the top clubs in Europe.

The 21-year-old is already earning plaudits from all over and we could yet see a transfer tussle for his signature.

A couple of sides are already in the running for his signature but the race for the talented youngster just heated up over the weekend.

According to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Manchester City and Benfica sent scouts to watch the player at the Copa Libertadores final last Saturday.

Patrick de Paula was in action for Palmeiras in the closing stages of the game as he came off the bench to replace Zé Rafael in the 78th minute.

The 21-year-old reportedly has a €100m release clause in his contract but that is perhaps commonplace with Brazilian sides and their youngsters of late.

However, a big fee would be required to tempt to sell one of their prized assets.

Manchester City could have an advantage over sides regarding Patrick given their relationship with the club. Fellow Brazilian Gabriel Jesus also made a €33m move from Palmeiras back in 2016 and has excelled under Pep Guardiola since then.

Asides Manchester City, Benfica also had scouts to watch the midfielder and it is being reported that Real Madrid could also register interest as well.

Since making his debut for Palmeiras back in 2020, Patrick has five goals and one assist in 40 appearances across all competitions.

His current contract will run out at the end of next season and it would rather make sense for the Brazilian outfit to cash in on the player this summer to avoid losing him for free.
