The trial regarding Gabriel Barbosa, known as Gabigol, and the doping test issue reached its verdict on Monday, March 25. And the news is far from good for the player who was trained at Santos FC.

Thus, the Flamengo player, who has also played for Inter Milan and Benfica in Europe, has been found guilty of fraud during a doping test and will be suspended for a period of two years if his appeal is rejected and if he decides to pursue it.

Indeed, he has the right to appeal this decision, which could either acquit him or reduce his sentence.

This suspension could come into effect starting from next April.

What is Gabigol accused of?

According to the Brazilian press (Globo), the incident took place on April 8 at Flamengo’s training center. The accusation is related to the player allegedly disrupting the testing procedure starting at 8:40 a.m., when the individuals responsible for collecting the sample for analysis arrived on site.

In addition to the resurgence of the Seleção, it seems that bad news continues to pile up for Brazilian football.
