Europa League: João Pedro scores for Brighton against Marseille

Brighton has finally scored its first points in the Europa League after a 2-2 draw against Marseille. It was Brazilian João Pedro that prompted the team into the result after scoring from the penalty spot in the end of the match.

Marseille were leading the scoresheet in the first half with goals from Mbemba and Veretout, but the English team did not give up and were crowned by their efforts, with Pascal Gross putting the ball in the net at the 54th minute, while João Pedro left his mark in the 88th.

With the draw, Marseille has two points, in second place in group B, which has AEK Athens as the leader, with four. Brighton are bottom, with one point, behind Ajax, who have two. There are four rounds left, and the first two will advance to the Europa League.

This was João Pedro’s third goal in the season, with all of them coming from the penalty mark. He and Brighton are back to action next Sunday (8) against Liverpool in the Premier League, where the Seagulls are in 6th place.
