Atlético-Mineiro grind out tough win against Coritiba to keep pressure at the top

Eduardo Sasha was scorer of the only goal of the game valid for the eighth round of the Brazilian Championship. Jorge Sampaoli"s team dropped in performance in the second half but managed to hold on to their win regardless. 

Atlético-MG had wide dominance of the match in the first half and had almost 70% possession of the ball.

Exchanging passes and reaching the attack with ease, the Rooster arrived with danger in the 18th minute, when Keno headed over the goal. 

 In the sequence, Guga almost opened the scoring after he hit a good shot that hit the crossbar. With full control of the match, Sampaoli"s team opened the scoring in the 30th minute with Eduardo SashaHyoran"s corner kick fell on Igor Rabello"s head and the striker hit the rebound to give his side the lead. Coritiba were barely able to breathe in the initial stage, was unable to find spaces and had great difficulty in going out to attack. 

Coritiba came out much better in the second half and pushed for an equalizer all throughAtlético-MG held on to their lead and secured an important victory at the end of the day. 

Atlético-MG occupies the third position in the tournament, with 15 points, two behind Internacional in first place. Coritiba have a game less than the team of Rio Grande do Sul. Coxa is the 17th place, with seven points. The team remains in the relegation zone. 

Atlético-MG returns to the field next Wednesday to face Santos in Vila BelmiroCoritiba will face Goiás on the same day, at the Hailé Pinheiro stadium, in Goiânia.
