New West Ham United manager David Moyes has revealed the pep talk that inspired Felipe Anderson’s first goal of the season on New Year’s Day.

The Brazilian scored an excellent solo goal during the Irons’ 4-0 win over Bournemouth at London Stadium- his first this season.

It was manager David Moyes’ first game in charge since being re-appointed and the Scot revealed the conversation he had with Anderson pre-match.

“I asked him if he was Brazilian,” Moyes said. “Brazilian's score goals, Brazilian's make the difference , they do something which makes us all excited, I said you're not doing that.

“Give me a Brazilian goal and to be fair, he did.” The player himself was delighted to end his goal drought.

“I knew that if I kept on working for the group I would start to score goals, give assists and make important dribbles, so today was special because I scored my first goal of the season and I expect to score many more before it ends.”
