Aston Villa have completed the £15m signing of Brazilian playmaker Douglas Luiz. The 21- year old leaves City after two years at the club without playing.
He spent both seasons on loan at Spanish club Girona as his request for a work permit was rejected last summer.
Villa say the transfer is subject to a work permit being granted, which it should given the size of the “Douglas is an extremely talented young player with an outstanding pedigree who I am sure will fit nicely into our style and system of play," said Villa boss Dean Smith.
“I hope I can be a leader in the team, I hope I can help by bringing the ball out from the back. Although I don’t speak a lot of English, I hope I can help by talking too,” the player said.
