Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino says that the team are aiming high this season, he believes the Reds have genuine aspirations of competing for the Premier League title.
The Reds have taken 7 points from their first 3 games and have qualified for the Champions League group stages. Firmino scored again and was central in Liverpool’s 4-0 demolition of Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.
“We must at least repeat our performance of last year by finishing in the top four – and then fight for the title. The team is also very motivated by the experience of being back in the Champions League.
“The target is to finish in the best possible position and we are aiming high. I think we have a chance because the Premier League is a very open competition this year. For me there doesn’t exist an out-and-out favourite.
“That’s what makes the season exciting. All the squads have improved but there isn’t one single ‘super team’. Everybody will believe they have a chance.”
