Liverpool have rejected an offer of £114m from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho. The Catalan club have had bids of £70m and £90m already rejected in recent weeks, but an improved offer has still not tempted the Reds.
The bid was immediately rejected on Friday afternoon, even though the player handed in a transfer request last Friday, in the wake of Barca’s second offer. The player has yet to appear for the club this season, due to a back injury.
Barcelona were forced to sell Neymar this summer, when his release clause was met by Paris Saint Germain and they plan to use the windfall to buy Coutinho from Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele.
