Brazilian club Grêmio admits that they can sell striker Luan in the January transfer window.
One of the major highlights of the team, Luan has received several enquiries and Grêmio are awaiting an official proposal, as reported by UOL Esporte. Enquiries were made directly to the club and also to the player’s entourage. According to Grêmio, in the middle of the year an agreement was made with Luan and his agent. The settlement meant a stay for another six months and release after this deadline, in the event of a financially good offer. President of Grêmio, Romildo Bolzan Júnior, said: “We have not received a proposal, but if something comes up within what Grêmio thinks is appropriate, let’s talk.”
The statement confirms the club’s willingness to sell Luan when compared to their position on enquiries for Pedro Geromel, who’s considered non-negotiable. Grêmio believes that Luan is worth more than €25 million, and holds 70% of the economic rights of the striker. Luan has already been targeted by English, Spanish and Portuguese teams. Leicester City and Barcelona were some of those teams reported to have an interest in recent months, but an official proposal was not made. Luan has been in the professional squad of Grêmio since 2014 and has become an integral part of the team’s starting XI. He finished 2016 as one of the club’s top goal scorers, and played an important role in Brazil’s Olympic Gold medal winning campaign.
