The CBF have been fined R$83,000 (about £20,000) for homophobic chanting of Brazil fans heard during their October World Cup qualifier against Bolivia in Natal in October. This follows a R$65,000 FIFA sanction for the same offence committed during a September qualifier against Colombia in Manaus.

On both occasions, the opposing goalkeepers were subjected to mass chanting of a homophobic curse word as they prepared to take goal kicks. The CBF have also been served with a warning letter from FIFA in relation to any future offences.

The CBF have also been sanctioned to the tune of R$50,000 for granting an interview outside of official FIFA channels in advance of the World Cup qualifier against Venezuela in Mérida in October.
