Chances of seeing young Brazilian defender Marquinhos at Barcelona next season grows increasingly as the summer transfer window approaches.
According to the information from GOAL Brasil, agent Giuliano Bertolucci met last week with the Catalan club leaders and initiated the first talks on the negotiation values; a salary of €4.5 million a year and €3 million in signing bonus was discussed. Luan Aoás, brother and attorney of the defender, also attended the meeting. Aged 21, Marquinhos is the main target of Luis Enrique’s side to strengthen the defensive sector for the upcoming season. Barça would be willing to pay up to €50m for the former Corinthians and Roma man, as they hope to seal a deal soon and thereby ward off strong competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid. The president of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi will try to find a definitive solution to the case of Marquinhos, as the player doesn’t want to continue in the French capital as a reserve option for David Luiz and Thiago Silva, or playing as a right-back.
