The news that Premier League side Chelsea have decided to take striker Alexandre Pato on loan took Brazilian football by surprise, but the player can return to Corinthians without having a chance to play a sequence of games.
Not even on the bench for Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League, Pato has just nine games before his contract expires. Until the end of the season, the London club has nine games left; one in the FA Cup and eight in the Premier League. Chelsea face Everton on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The Brazilian striker only made Chelsea’s bench twice since his arrival in January. The first was against Norwich, on the 1st of March, and then last Saturday against Stoke City. On Tuesday, the player’s agent Gilmar Veloz talked about the situation and stated that everything is normal. Alexandre Pato hasn’t played a professional game for three months. His last match was on November 28 last year, when São Paulo defeated Figueirense 3-2 in the Brazilian Championship at Morumbi.
