At a point where some of the best players from the Brazilian Championship have left for the big wages offered by Chinese clubs, Lucas Lima has said no to a €1 million per-month proposal from the Asian country.
The Santos playmaker wishes to be regularly called up to the Brazilian national team, and doesn’t want to distance himself from the dream of being transferred to a big team from European football. Lucas Lima told Esporte Interativo: “It was a lot of money. If I speak here, they will call me crazy. I turned down more than €700,000 a month, nearly €1 million. Balance, it’s like I said. I talked to my father, with my family. My father always says that money is not everything in life, it is also important to be happy. I will not say that I do not want money or to be rich, because I’d be lying. But the choices I make are for my happiness, which is playing football, and the dream of national team and Europe.”
