Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed the performance of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino against Arsenal on Wednesday night. The ex Hoffenheim forward scored twice against Arsenal in the first half of a thrilling 3-3 draw and was the width of the crossbar away from scoring a first half hat trick.

His second goal in particular caught the eye, an outstanding curling shot from 20 yards which beat Petr Cech. Firmino played in a false 9 role again, in what was possibly his finest performance since joining Liverpool in July last year.

Klopp gushed, “’I could talk about his performance for half an hour, but to be honest I think it should be normal because I know how good he is. If you are good, you have to show it and tonight he did.”

Liverpool twice led the Gunners, but had to be satisfied with a point after Joe Allen’s last ditch equaliser in a breathless contest, “’It was very important for us because for 95 minutes, he was always thinking about playing in different positions and in all of them was really good.

“He made perfect goals – the first was really good, the second spectacular, brilliant… whatever you want to say. It was a really good game.” Liverpool play Manchester United on Sunday.
