Ronaldo justified his decision to not play in the playoffs of the North American Soccer League with one of his current passion; Poker.
Former Brazilian striker Ronaldo came to prominence last year when he became a partner of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, and announced signings like Léo Moura and had even promised to return to play if the team could reach the playoffs of the North American Soccer League. In the semi-final playoff, Ronaldo"s Fort Lauderdale Strikers were defeated [2-1] by Cosmos who eventually went onto become champions. Ronaldo said in an interview with Vice Sports: “Yes, I would play for my team. I promised to play if the team reached the playoff. But it was very hard to come back, lose weight… There are many problems to return to play football. I prefer Poker [smiles]. My weight does not matter to play Poker."
Seeking to expand the market and promote the brand, Fort Lauderdale Strikers are playing in the Florida Cup this month alongside big European and Brazilian teams like Schalke, Bayern Leverkusen, Corinthians, Fluminense, Internacional and Atlético Mineiro.
