23-year-old Santos winger Geuvânio has reportedly received a proposal from Chinese football, promising an annual salary in the region of €2 million.
The name of the team was not revealed, but the report from ESPN Brasil states Chinese second division side Tianjin Songjian, coached by former Real Madrid manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo, had contacted the representatives of Geuvânio. The wages offered by the Chinese club is around €170,000 per-month, and is nearly six times what the player currently earns at Santos.
According to Brazilian newspaper Lance!, Tianjin Songjiang, who have already signed Luís Fabiano and Jádson, have contacted Santos for formalizing an interest in Geuvânio. The club are believed to be demanding a fee of €18 million, and now expects a response. If the deal goes through, Santos, who own 65% of Geuvanio’s economic rights, can make around €11.5m out of it. Internally, however, the club believes that the value they demand is high and is unlikely to be accepted by the Chinese team.
