Real Madrid’s Brazilian right-back Danilo has leapt to the defence of teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, after the Portuguese winger’s temperament appeared to get the better of him once or twice in Madrid’s 10-2 rout of Rayo Vallecano at the Bernabeu.

Madrid were 2-1 point on the half hour mark, prompting the home fans to express their disenchantment with the performance. At this point, Ronaldo was seen to wave a finger impertinently at Madridistas, in disapproval of their act of vocal displeasure.

Vallecano had two players sent off and were powerless to prevent Madrid from racking up double figures, with Ronaldo scoring two, Karim Benzema three and Gareth Bale four. Bale’s total appeared to upset Ronaldo, who seemed to sarcastically applaud the Welshman as he was substituted shortly after this fourth goal.

Brazilian right back Danilo defended his teammate against accusations of a poor attitude, reasoning, “The fans have a right to say they are unhappy. But Cristiano is a reference and is a player who can do this, but I and the others must continue to work. We are players used to playing with pressure and we have to continue like this,” concluded the right back.
