Alexandre Pato’s loan contract with São Paulo is coming to an end, and the striker has to return to Corinthians for the club’s pre-season in January.
The Brazilian club has never hid their desire to sell the player, and are waiting for an official proposal to appear. However, Corinthians football manager Edu Gaspar confirmed that Pato will join the squad if there is nothing new in the coming days. He was quoted in UOL Esporte: “As for Pato, it will be defined in the coming weeks along with Tite, the president and our board. If nothing happens, he will play for Corinthians and therefore normally participate in the pre-season.”
In recent days, coach Tite has expressed the desire to have Pato among his players in 2016, and his assistant Cléber Xavier has also praised the 26-year-old. He said: “One of our qualities, or characteristics is the personnel management. We also have the characteristic that we do not give up on anybody. If he is present to work, we will work and try to make the best out of it. Pato has had a great year at São Paulo, he is a highlight of the Brazilian Championship and we have to try to work with him. Pato is an intelligent boy.”
