Barcelona coach Luis Enrique says Neymar will not be put under pressure to lead the team’s attack in the absence of Lionel Messi.
The Argentine star has been on the sidelines following a knee ligament injury suffered last month, and should return to the pitch next month. Neymar showed signs that he’s capable of leading the team with a sublime performance against Rayo Vallecano last weekend. The Brazilian captain found the net four times, and also provided the cross for Luis Suárez’ goal. Luis Enrique said: “We try to work as a group. We have our leader in Lionel Messi, we cannot seek new leaders constantly.”
There have been talks about the contract renewal of Neymar for quite a while, but the coach insists this saga wouldn’t affect the player’s performances on the pitch. He added: It doesn’t worry me that this might affect him sportingly.”
