Botafogo youngster Luis Henrique started and played 82 minutes of Brazil’s 1-0 defeat to South Korea in the opening game of the Under 17 World Cup in Chile.

Henrique who has been linked with a cut-price move to Arsenal in the last month was near on anonymous as it was the Koreans who were victorious.

Jaewon Jang scored the only goal of the game on 79 minutes and minutes later Brazil went down to ten men following Geovane’s red card.

However, this was a night you would expect the 17 year old Henrique to step up to the mark and distinguish himself as a man capable of playing in Europe.

Nevertheless the teenager wasn’t able to find the net as he led the line for his national side and was replaced eight minutes from time with Eronildo of Vitoria.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in the Botafogo man who has made a big impact in Serie B this season and with a rumoured £10.5 million release clause, the North London side are keeping tabs on the promising youngster.

Brazil face England in their next game on Wednesday where Henrique will hoping, second time round he can prove why he is one of the most highly rated teens in World football.
