Rio Grande do Sul is still calculating the tragedy imposed by the heavy rains in recent days and the biggest discussion within Brazilian football is the total suspension of the Brazilian Championship (Brasileirão).

The Confederation announced the postponement of the games of Grêmio, Juventude and Internacional until the end of May.

Will the Brasileirão be suspended?

The state of Rio Grande do Sul is in a state of emergency and the clubs from Rio Grande do Sul have already requested the postponement of the next rounds of the Brasileirão due to the collapse in the city of Porto Alegre, but the idea has not yet been accepted by the CBF and some clubs.

The CBF decided not to suspend the championship, due to the uncertainty of a joint position from the teams. Therefore, only the matches of Inter, Juventude and Grêmio, whether at home or as visitors, were postponed until the end of May.

Tragedy in the South

The storm that has been hitting Rio Grande do Sul since April 29 registered 397 municipalities with problems such as flooding, landslides or landslides. According to a report from the State Civil Defense, 1.4 million people were affected.

So far, the tragedy has killed 90 people, 131 are still missing, 362 are injured and there are four deaths under investigation.
