The partnership between Lucas Barrios and 18-year-old revelation Gabriel
Jesus at Palmeiras is going just well, and the Paraguayan striker believes
the youngster has a great future ahead.
After thrashing Fluminense 4-1 at the Maracanã and marking his début at the
famous stadium with a goal, Gabriel Jesus was once again outstanding in the
3-2 victory over Grêmio on Saturday. Despite not being on the score-sheet,
Gabriel was instrumental for his team’s third goal scored by Rafael Marques
and posing headache to the Grêmio back-line throughout the game. Barrios
said: “Gabriel Jesus is a very young player and he’s having a great career
here. Despite being only 18 years old, he is very mature. A guy who has a
great sense of responsibility. Do what you have to do, that’s play for the
club. You must stay calm that you’re 18, and he has a very big future. I’ve
played with a lot of players in Europe and I think he has a good future
ahead.”
