Cut-off from the Brazilian squad for the friendlies against Costa Rica and USA due to a muscle injury, Atlético Madrid left-back Filipe Luís was optimistic during the press-conference about his participation in the fixture against Barcelona on Saturday.
Filipe Luís got injured in Atlético Madrid’s league win over Sevilla where he had to be replaced by Jesús Gámez and in the national team, Atlético Mineiro’s Douglas Santos was named as his replacement. Filipe said: “Yesterday I returned to training with the group, and the feeling was good. The goal is to be fit for the match against Barcelona, so I believe the break helped. In principle, I was in the field and it depends on the willingness of the coach to use me or not.”
Filipe Luís also commented on his compatriot Neymar’s playing style, as the Brazilian captain angered Atlético players during the fixture last May. Filipe added: “I know Neymar since his days at Santos, and he always plays the same way. It’s his style of play, his matter. You have to try and stop him which is very difficult because he is a great player, fast, and knows how to score goals. Focus should be on how to stop him.”
