A stunning late strike by Philippe Coutinho gave Liverpool a 1-0 win over Stoke City this afternoon at the Britannia Stadium.
The game had been an uninspiring affair and was heading for a goalless draw when the former Vasco man unleashed a powerful long-range strike to beat Jack Butland in the Potters’ goal.
The game also marked a club debut Coutinho’s compatriot and new signing Roberto Firmino, who was introduced in place of Jordan Ibe with 78 minutes on the clock.
