Flamengo forward Paolo Guerrero has denied that there is a possibility that he could move on to Internazionale.

The Peru international – capped 63 times since debuting in 2004 – only joined the club from Corinthians on a free transfer in May and has a contract that runs until August 2018.

Despite this, rumours over recent days have suggested that Serie A outfit Internazionale are interested in securing him before the summer transfer window closes.

With the reports continuing to circulate from various news outlets, Guerrero has chosen to speak out personally in an attempt to quell the speculation.

“These rumours are coming from the international press and are not to be taken seriously. I’m happy at Flamengo,” he stated, as reported by website Sempre Inter.

Guerrero has been in Brazil since July 2012, when Corinthians signed him from Hamburger SV for a reported fee of €3.5 million.

With them, the 31 year-old won the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup – he scored the only goal in the final against Chelsea – and scored 34 goals in 78 appearances.

Prior to making his switch to Flamengo, he also helped Peru to third place at this year’s Copa América, with his return of four goals only matched by Chile’s Eduardo Vargas.

At Flamengo, he has so far featured four times in the Brasileirão and scored twice.
