Milan vice-president and C.E.O. Adriano Galliani has refused to rule out a move for Santos forward Gabriel Barbosa.

The 18 year-old has been linked with a switch to the Rossoneri as part of a deal to take Robinho to Santos permanently.

The latter was granted a release from his contract with Milan on Tuesday and is expected to be free to join Santos, where is currently on loan, or another club, on 1st July.

Reports have speculated whether Milan’s decision to let Robinho end his contract was motivated by their desire to secure Gabriel, while it has even been suggested that if Robinho does sign with Santos, then Milan may have received a first option on the teenager.

Speaking before it was agreed for Robinho to move on, Galliani noted that the veteran wants to remain in Brazil, but also refused to be drawn on whether Gabriel [also known as Gabigol] would be included in some guise.

"I know that Robinho wants to stay in Brazil," he said in an interview with Lance!net, as reported by website Football Italia.

"We want to find a good solution for him, let’s see what happens. Gabigol? Let’s see, I’m aware of the player, but we’ll have to see."

Gabriel is contracted to Santos until September 2019. The versatile attacker has featured 43 times for the first-team and scored nine times.

On Sunday, he was used as a late substitute in Santos’ opening match of the 2015 Brasileirão – a 1-1 draw with Avaí.
